studied music at TUT before stepping foot on stage in her first professional
production at The Sound Stage as a lead vocalist in Richard Loring’s “Girl Talk
2000. Practice, professionalism, raw talent and quality production are what
continue to attract fans of all ages too. “The hard work is paying off,” she
admits. “Live is where variety is key. My Barnyard background taught me that,
and I always deliver a mixed bag – something for everyone. My music works best
in live performances and that is where I’m happiest too, so the two make for a
great combination.” Her
debut’s title track, a duet with none other than Snotkop, enjoyed massive
support and the video was played so many times on YouTube that it was
acknowledged for being the most downloaded song on the channel. Add two Tempo
Awards - one for Best Dance Album and a second for Best Music Video for Ek Val
Vir Jou. MK also dropped an award her way, again for the hit and rather hot
title track’s video. Her second solo album, Pienk Champagne "is the best
representation of me so far,” she confirms. “Everything that happened to me,
since the release of Ek Val Vir Jou, has been serendipitous.” In
2018 she went on to triumph as mentor to winning contestant Demi-Lee Moore in
the talent development Afrikaans singing competition, Die Kontrak. She also
mentors Die Kontrak Season 2 winner Samantha Leonard in 2022. In 2023 and 2024 respectively, Monique portrays various beloved
characters on stage with the Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra with a world
wide selected cast representing 100 Years of Disney and 30 Years of The Lion
King celebrations - a once in a lifetime opportunity.
She was also part of the Grey College Music Festival in 2024, an
invitation and experience she will remember and cherish forever.
Her latest solo album, titled "Mosaïek" with COLESKE ARTISTS puts
another stamp on her longevity and staying power with her spiritual single "Die
Boom" and duet "Hartseer" with Ruhan du Toit making their debut
on the Afrikaans Is Groot stage in 2017. "Die Boom" takes home a
GHOEMA award for the most downloaded song of 2018. She is also a very familiar
face on the "Classics" and “Afrikaans is Groot”stages and has been
part of this production for the past 6 years.
